I like the distinction between "man" and "person" in this one. Yes, this is more free verse, and I actually think this form suits your love poetry best, even if the other one has more vivid imagery. Maybe you could try writing one with imagery in free verse?
What's interesting is that the other one started out being free verse and when I was done with that, most of it had some sort of form, so I just carried it through. I only ended up editing like 2 lines.
